Puffed Rice Fingers


5 c puffed rice
1/4 c diced mixed candied fruit
1/2 c coarsely chopped nuts
1/2 c sugar
3/4 c dark corn syrup
1/3 c water
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter or margarine

Spread puffed rice in shallow pan and heat in moderate oven 350F for 10 minutes
Then turn into a greased large bowl
Stir in fruit and nuts
In medium-size saucepan stir together sugar, corn syrup, water and salt
Cook over medium heat to soft ball stage 236F
Stir in butter
Stir hot syrup mixture into puffed rice until evenly coated
Pack mixture firmly into greased 13x9x2 pan
Cool
Cut into bars 3x1"
makes 39
